Students line up to find jobs at 2009 IT Career Fair at IU Bloomington
September 15, 2009
Lots of student interest in the IT Career Fair on the Bloomington campus today. About 60 employers and well over 400+ students before 1pm were moving through Alumni Hall and Solarium in the Student Union.
Many booths had lines 5 to 10 deep of students waiting to talk with a recruiter and learn more. I talked with several employers about their expectations (all were optimistic) and chatted with students; some nervousness in the job hunt but still feeling great about their degree choice. I ran into Informatics students Kelsey Yost, Nick Baker, Cameron Schnick, and Chris Ardrey during the fair. All were happy to see the employers and a bit tired from several hours of interviewing.
I talked to Beth Haggenjos, Director of Career Services, School of Informatics, IUPUI, about her action for the day: Bringing a car load of Informatics students down from Indianapolis to attend the fair. Next year she said "We'll get a bus"!
Below are pics from the event and two interviews from employer side and student side.
