Chat with Chauncey Frend (BS `08). In this short chat, Chauncey talks about his immersive environment (lights, camera, action, smell!) and what he plans to do after graduating.
Chat with Josh Froelich (BS `02). Josh talks about his first day at IU Bloomington, meaning of informatics, transferring into the new School of Informatics, and applying informatics with a broad perspective. Josh Froelich also authored a chapter on text mining in the second volume of Handbook on Decision Support Systems 2 (Details at http://www.springer.com/business/operations+research/book/978-3-540-48715-9).
Chat with Jennette Fulda (BS `03). Jennette talks about her early intro to journalism (5th grade newsletter), getting through journalisim requirement for IU degree, and on campus during September 11th watching the news. Jennette is also the author of Half-Assed: A Weight-loss Memoir and blogs regularly at PastaQueen (http://www.pastaqueen.com/ ). Her approach to the book was very much in the spirit of informatics: she took pictures of herself at eight different angles at different weights and put them in flash objects so she could show her progress (multiple pictures here. Try to get all of them to spin!).
BoI 0019 Chat with Alex Baker (BS `07) and Raziya Lockhart (BS `08). With Alex we chat about “What is informatics”, creating a self portrait in 3d and animating it (”Ears are tough to capture”),
being a .Net developer, and Infinistorm’s File Hurricane (http://www.filehurricane.com/) and Survey Hurricane, a Facebook to do MySpace like quizzes and surveys on Facebook.
